The tracks
Over My Head , a funky brokenbeat tune, came to life a couple of years ago, when Dave Jones (AKA Maddslinky, Zed Bias and Phuturistix) was invited to DJ at the Sofabeat, the now legendary club Malkiel had managed at the time. The next day he was invited to our studio, and in a couple of hours we had a killer beat and a new friend (Dave is a charming person). We called Karolina, and she came over at once and slammed the vocals in a couple of takes. The track became a favourite on the weekly parties Nadav hosted at the Sofabeat, With Karolina chanting the club name on the first few bars.
Over My Head's Demo version was first released in 2004 as a free download via the internet-only label, Tokyo Dawn Records.
Out of sight was first conceived in February 2005. We had a really sick, bass heavy beat somewhere between Crunk and Grime. We wanted to escape the obvious, and instead of opting for an aggressive, dirty vocal performance, we wanted to marry this beat to a sweet, soulful voice. We contacted Talisman and hit it right off - the song practically wrote itself. Beside the fact that this track generated the most enthusiastic responses, we also gained a partnership with Talisman which proved to be fruitful and inspiring.
We would like to big up those who supported these tracks so far:
Michael Rutten (Compost) Diplo (Big Dada) Nick Barat (Fader) Danilo (Inverse Cinematics) Joe
90 (Futureboogie) Somatik (2000 Black) Eyal Quami Friedman (KZ Radio, Israel) Joao Cari & Francisco Coelho (NujazzSoul / Portugal) Kevin Beadle (Mind Fluid / Clubbity) Valenche (Urban Landscapes / Beyond Jazz) Sammy (UK Vibe / The Other Side) Steve Williams ( UK Vibe) Djouls (TIMEC) Pete (KFM / New Zealand) Commusication (Radio FREI/ Germany)
